Douglas Nicholls was an Australian Aboriginal athlete and activist. He worked to bring attention to the disadvantages faced by Aboriginal people throughout Australia. Nicholls was the first Aboriginal person to be knighted. Douglas Ralph Nicholls was born on December 9, 1906, at Cummeragunja Aboriginal Reserve, New South Wales.
